MANILA, Philippines — American food, drink and entertainment chain Dave & Buster’s recently formally broke ground in Opus Mall, Quezon City, ahead of the opening of its first branch in the Philippines being eyed for October.

The groundbreaking signals the start of the construction of the world-famous arcade, restaurant and bar in the mall’s third level.

Antonio Bautista, Dave & Buster’s Chief International Development Officer, was in the country to join the ceremonial groundbreaking together with officers from The Bistro Group. He shared in a statement that part of the allure of going to the establishment is its “all-in-one offering.”

“It is a multi-dimensional experience with cutting-edge games and technology, high quality food and drinks with exceptional sports viewing. It excites all the senses. Our approach ensures (the restaurant) is the destination of choice for people of all ages be it a family night or a day out with your friends,” he said.

“We are delighted to announce our expansion into the Philippines, marking a significant milestone in our global growth strategy to reach a broader audience.”

According to him, they partnered with Philippines-based restaurant group The Bistro Group because of its reputation “as one of the strongest restaurant operators and a trendsetter in the F&B (food and beverage) industry in Southeast Asia and beyond makes them our ideal partner.”

Jean Paul Munuud, The Bistro Group president, explained why they decided to bring the American franchise to the Philippines.

“We were impressed by Dave & Buster’s holistic offering in the hospitality industry where guests can eat, drink, play and watch sports shows all in one location.  It is a very good concept that could pioneer well in the Philippines, being poised to be the first of its kind in the local F&B landscape,” he stated.

"Entering the 'eatertainment' sector with a renowned brand is an exciting development for us. This collaboration enhances our portfolio, enabling us to offer unparalleled dining and entertainment experiences in the Philippines.”

He added that the franchise is a well-positioned and very distinctive brand with a broad market appeal.

“One doesn’t have to be young or old to enjoy a visit at the restaurant. It’s for everybody. Parents can eat as their kids play games, young adults can also dine, drink and enjoy the interactive games while others can simply watch sports shows by the bar.  It’s a place where everyone is welcome anytime of the day.”

The 1,560-square-meter flagship store will feature a top-notch arcade with exclusive games and amenities. Among the video games imported from the US and unique to the Philippine market include Stepmaniax Arcade De Luxe by: Step Revolution, Super Blaster by:  Trio Tech; NBA Superstar Worldwide by: Raw Thrills; Water Gun Pixel by: Bob Space Racer and Goatz and Rope by: Baytex.  Additionally, a host of other exciting games and adventures include Godzilla VR and the new Fast & Furious Arcade with Dual Monitor.

The franchise, according to its statement, is set apart by its “Eat, Drink, Play and Watch” all in one location concept. Each store offers a full menu of entrées and appetizers, a complete selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, and an extensive assortment of entertainment attractions centered around playing games and watching live sports and other televised events.

Founded in 1982 with headquarters in Coppell, Texas, Dave & Buster’s Entertainment, Inc. has 165 corporate locations in the USA, Canada and Puerto Rico.  It aims to strengthen its global presence in other parts of the world, including the Philippines.
