PAGASA has urged residents in affected areas to stay hydrated, avoid direct sun exposure during peak afternoon hours and refrain from strenuous outdoor activities to prevent heatstroke and other heat-related illnesses.

Frontal system, easterlies

Cloudy skies and scattered rains may be anticipated in some areas of the country due to the frontal system and the easterlies.

  • A frontal system is a boundary between two air masses of different temperatures and humidity. In the Philippines, it often forms when cooler air from the north meets warmer, moist air from the Pacific, triggering clouds and rain.
  • This weather system is currently affecting Batanes and Cagayan, where residents may expect cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms.

PAGASA warned of possible flash floods or landslides in these areas due to moderate to, at times, heavy rainfall.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country, meanwhile, may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies — warm, moist winds blowing from the Pacific Ocean.
