MANILA, Philippines — A proposed multi-agency task force against fake news, troll farms, illegal online gambling and online scams will be spearheaded by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).

“The Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) is leading this initiative,” said DICT Secretary Henry Rhoel Aguda.

The joint task force is a spin-off of the Threat Monitoring Center established with tech giant Meta during the midterm elections, CICC officer-in-charge Renato Paraiso said Tuesday.

“Secretary Aguda plans to make it full-time and not only for election purposes,” Paraiso said.
