‘Integrity over shortcuts’: Shamcey Supsup-Lee accepts Pasig councilor defeat

MANILA, Philippines — Beauty queen Shamcey Supsup-Lee feels that she still won despite losing her bid to sit as a councilor of Pasig.
“We have already won, because we never lost who we are,” Shamcey wrote on Instagram.
The Binibining Pilipinas Universe 2011 initially ran as part of the slate of defeated, first-time voter Sara Discaya, who lost to a landslide victory of re-electionist Vico Sotto.
“In every step of this journey, we chose integrity over shortcuts, truth over convenience, and compassion over division. We stood firm in our principles, spoke up for what we believed in, and remained grounded in purpose.
“This was never just about a position, it was about proving that dignity, honesty, and heart still have a place in public service. Thank you for walking with me,” Shamcey ended.
The beauty queen is just one of over a dozen celebrities who run for local and national posts in this year's midterm elections. Some won their bids, but a remarkable number of them did not.
