LRT-1 offers free rides tomorrow

MANILA, Philippines — In celebration of Independence Day, passengers of the Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) can avail themselves of free rides tomorrow.

The Light Rail Manila Corp. (LRMC), the private operator of LRT-1, said commuters can get free rides from 7 to 9 a.m. and from 5 to 7 p.m.

“The free ride program aims to encourage passengers to travel conveniently during Independence Day celebrations across Metro Manila,” the LRMC said on its Facebook page.

“Travelers are encouraged to take this opportunity to visit tourist spots located near the LRT-1 stations,” the rail operator added.

The rail line offers easy access to Manila’s heritage sites such as Rizal Park, Intramuros and the National Museum.
