Kagawad shot dead in Abra

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — A barangay kagawad was killed in an attack by a motorcycle-riding assailant in San Isidro, Abra yesterday morning.

Ronald Javier, 46, of Barangay Pantoc, was declared dead on arrival at the Abra Provincial Hospital.

Javier was in a tricycle on his way to the town proper when he was killed in the nearby village of Dalimag.

Police said the assailant fled toward the nearby town of Pidigan.

Responding police officers recovered bullet shells at the crime scene. Investigation is ongoing.
