MANILA, Philippines — A senior citizen in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu received P20,000 after participating in the city's annual free circumcision outreach program.
The individual was a 67-year-old resident from Barangay Calawisan and was accompanied by two younger men aged 23 and 21.
The senior citizen was given P20,000 from the personal funds of mayor and Congressman-elect of Lapu-Lapu Junard "Ahong" Chan, who witnessed the procedure.
The two younger men received P10,000 each from Chan as part of the city's campaign to encourage men aged 20 and above to participate in the "Libreng Tuli" program.
Other senior citizens who get circumcised will also receive P20,000 from the mayor's personal funds. Younger participants will get free burgers, ice cream, medicines, and candies.
The "Libreng Tuli" program of Lapu-Lapu City aims to break social stigma and promote hygiene and health among adult males, especially those who were not circumcised in their youth.
