MANILA, Philippines — Todo bantay ngayon ang libu-libong puwersa ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) sa mga hotspots at areas of concern na tinukoy ng Comelec kaugnay ng gaganaping lokal at nasyonal na halalan ngayon sa bansa.

“The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), duly deputized by Comelec, working in close coordination with the PNP, is fully prepared for tomorrow’s elections, saad ni AFP Spokesperson Col Francel Margareth Padilla.

Kabilang sa mga natukoy na hotspots o Areas of Immediate Concern ay nasa mahigit 400 lugar na karamihan ay BARMM (Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao), 8 lugar sa Nueva Ecija, tig-2 sa Pampanga at Bulacan; tig-isa sa Aurora at Bataan. Gayundin sa Bicol Region, 13 lugar sa Eastern Visayas, Cagayan Valley at iba pa.

Una rito, inihayag ng Philippine Army na mahigit 16,000 tropa ng militar ang kanilang idineploy sa election duties maliban pa ang libu-libo ring standby at contingency forces na handang magresponde sa mga emergency.

Sa kabila nito, iniha­yag ni Padilla na inaasahan nila ang mapayapa at matiwasay na halalan.

“AFP personnel have been instructed to remain non-partisan, uphold human rights, and support Comelec and PNP in securing the electoral process. To our fellow Filipinos, your Armed Forces of the Philippines stand ready to protect your right to vote—safely, freely, and peacefully,” giit pa ng AFP.
