Chiz, Sotto ‘word war’ sumiklab

MANILA, Philippines — Binuweltahan ni Senate President Francis Escudero si Senator-elect at dating Senate President Vicente Sotto III tungkol sa naging pahayag nito tungkol sa impeachment ni Vice President Sara Duterte.

Pinanindigan ni Escudero na sinusunod niya ang batas at hindi niya inuupuan ang isyu.

“Binushwhack ko daw ang impeachment. ­Tiningnan ko sa diksyonaryo, ibig sabihin ng bushwhack, attack by surprise from a hidden place. Inatake ko ba ang impeachment? Hindi. Sinunod ko ang batas. Surpresa ba? Hindi. Dahil lahat ng ginagawa ko, sinasabi ko muna bago ko gawin. Pangatlo, mula sa tagong lugar, bahagi ng trabaho ko bilang taga-pangulo ng Senado at bahagi ng 19th Congress na pagpasyahan ito sang-ayon sa approval o assent ng aming mga kasamahan,” ani Escudero.

Sinabi pa ni Escudero na mukhang mas kinakampihan ni Sotto ang Kongreso at hindi ang institusyon ng Senado.

“Ang mas tanong ko ay, parang kami yata yung binushwhack niya, ako at ang Senado. Tinira kami at kinampihan ang Kongreso imbis na ang institusyon na kinabilangan niya.

Muling inulit ni Escudero ang pahayag na ang 20th Congress ang pinal na may desisyon sa impeachment trial.

“I look forward to welcoming him (Sotto) in the 20th Congress. But in the meantime, allow Congress to decide, and we haven’t even decided yet, on these matters. Because I reiterate my earlier position, all of these matters have to be confirmed and affirmed by the 20th Congress that he will be a part of,” ani Escudero.

Nauna rito, binatikos ni Sotto si Escudero lalo pa sa interpretasyon nito kung kailan dapat magsimula ang trial.

“Sa Senado, ang ‘agad agad’ pala means, ‘upuan mo muna!’” ani Sotto sa isang group chat sa media.

“Iyong SP said lahat daw ng kilos n’ya is by the Senate. Just now Nancy and Migs said none of them were ever consulted. One thing i never did, was, lie to the media.  There was never a plenary after February 5 that Articles of impeachment was frozen. June 2 na ulit plenary. Pero ang daming pronouncements in between. Palusot,” wika ni Sotto.
