VP Sara back from Malaysia trip

MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Sara Duterte arrived in the country yesterday from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia where she led the 127th Philippine Independence Day celebration.
The Office of the Vice President (OVP) said Duterte is set to lead the 2025 Pasidungog awarding ceremony in Davao City tomorrow.
“Pasidungog is an annual event that honors the partners of the Office of the Vice President for their invaluable support in implementing the agency’s programs and initiatives,” the OVP said.
Duterte has said that she will be meeting with her defense team to discuss the summons issued by the Senate, which requires her to answer allegations in the Articles of Impeachment filed by the House of Representatives.
The OVP has confirmed receiving the Senate summons signed by Senate President Francis Escudero.
In his summons, Escudero asked Duterte to file her answer to the accusations indicated in the Articles of Impeachment within a non-extendible period of 10 days.
During her trip to Kuala Lumpur, Duterte was accompanied by known allies Sen. Imee Marcos and Sen. Robinhood Padilla. The two were among the 18 senators who voted to remand the Articles of Impeachment to the House of Representatives.
