4 Chinese nationals nabbed for immigration violations
CEBU, Philippines — Four Chinese nationals were arrested in Liloan, northern Cebu, for allegedly violating the Philippine Immigration Act, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) reported Wednesday.
The arrests came after the Bureau of Immigration (BI) sought the NBI s help in serving a mission order against Zhao Yang, who was suspected of illegally working in the country without the required employment visa, in violation of Commonwealth Act No. 613.
According to the NBI s Facebook post, the operation focused on Maxway International Trading Inc. in Liloan, where other undocumented foreign nationals were also believed to be present.
After conducting covert surveillance and verification on May 13, 2025, NBI-STF and CCD agents, in coordination with BI representatives, launched a joint operation the following day to confirm intelligence reports on the location.
Zhao Yang was found at the site, along with three other Chinese nationals identified as Wu Junrong, Qiu Gongchun, and Wang Chaoxin.
All four individuals were arrested, informed of their constitutional rights, and booked at the BI-RIOU 7 office in Cebu.
They were presented for inquest proceedings for the stated immigration law violations and were later transported by BI-RIOU 7 personnel, with assistance from NBI-STF and CCD agents, to Manila for transfer to the BI Detention Facility in Bicutan.
The NBI said the operation highlights its continuing collaboration with the BI in enforcing immigration laws and maintaining national security. (CEBU NEWS)
