CEBU, Philippines — Giuseppe FC delivered a remarkable performance leading to three championship titles in this year’s Stanley Football Cup 8-Aside Football Festival at the Dynamic Herb-Borromeo Sports Complex recently.

GFC’s teams reigned supreme in the 14 Under, mixed 10 Under, and 6 Under age groups after they outclassed Anahawan FC of Southern Leyte 1-0, Sugbo Calidad-B, 2-0, and CLC Tiger Sharks, 1-0, respectively, in the finals.

Guiseppe also bagged the Most Valuable Player awards in these categories:striker Gyle Veloso (U14) and midfielder Blake Anthony Angelo (U10) with six goals each and striker Adam Ezra Bermejo (U6) with 13 goals total.

In an admirable gesture, the 12-year-old Veloso made a heartfelt tribute to Pope Francis by writing the late pontiff’s name underneath his jersey. “Pope Francis was my favorite pope so I thought of offering all our games to him,” he said.

The rest of GFC’s U14 Team A roster includes Darl Mathew Pantinople, Eze Thomas Omega, James MikhailGavas, Joaquin Andres Gallo, John Kyle Losaria, Daniel Parker, Takuya Tsunakiri, James Carmelo Torrillo, Josea Benedict Mabini, Franz Javier Juntilla, and Charles Jan Lejarzo.

The other U10 players are Tristan Franco Du Imboy, Eliana Izabel Menchavez, Khal Drogo Keon Pepito, Yohan Cariquitan, Makarios Clement Cavalida, Earl Dave Sugarol, Leo Lucas Anton Amellabon, Seth Nikolai Sostinto, Giulio Adrijan Oporto, and Miguel Soquiño.

Zoey Ampo-on, Miguel Lucas Gallo, Erwan Niño Du Imboy, Theo Pierre Pepito, Lorenzo Blaise Soria, Nate Louis Soria, Daniel Albert Datan, and Macarious Zane Mejaran form part of the U6 squad.

“We are incredibly proud of our players and coaches. Their hard work and teamwork in every practice session have truly paid off,” said Guiseppe FC head coach Hayato Ayabe, who credited their success to his fellow coaches Reeve Andre Sumayod (U14), Lennard Amellabon (U10), and Evan Abad, Ralphe Patrick Gaite and Wendel Soco (U6). — (FREEMAN)
