86.9% na pumirma sa impeachment muling Nahalal

MANILA, Philippines — Nasa 86.9 porsiyento ng mga mambabatas na pumirma sa impeachment laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte ang nahalal at muling makakabalik sa puwesto.

Ayon kay Assistant Majority Leader Jude ­Acidre, taliwas ito sa paniniwala na isang political liability ang impeachment.

“Just to set the record straight, these results dismantle the narrative that the impeachment was a political liability. What we’re seeing is a public that va­lues courage over compli­city. The people have drawn the line - and they stood with us,” ani Acidre.

Maging sa ­Mindanao, ang tinuturing na bailiwick ng pamilya ni ­dating ­pangulong Duterte, at kung saan hinulaan ng mga kritiko ang ­backlash, ibinunyag ni Acidre na 36 sa 44 pro-impeachment na mambabatas ang babalik sa Kongreso sa Hulyo 1 sa 20th Congress.

“The House acted as it should - as an independent, co-equal branch committed to the rule of law. Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez provided steady leadership throughout. If anything, the results show that his brand of principled politics resonates across the nation,” ani Acidre.

Hinimok din ng kongresista ang mga kapwa mambabatas na iwasan ang paninisi at pagtuunan ng pansin ang mas mahahalagang bagay.

“This is no time for finger-pointing. We were elected not to protect careers, but to uphold our duty. The people have spoken. And they have spoken in favor of accountability,” anang mambabatas.
