Owning the first men’s nail bar in Philippines

MANILA, Philippines — The country’s first men’s nail bar just opened in the Philippines – Pennyworth’s Nail Bar.

Its name is inspired by the butler of Bruce Wayne, Alfred Pennyworth, a man who took into heart the needs of his master.

The newly opened nail bar is run by the management of California Nails and Spa, whose owner has been immersed in the nail grooming business for more than three decades.

Its owner, Leslie Matta- CEO of California Nails & Day Spa, C.A.N.S. (California Advanced Nail & Skincare) and Pennyworth Men’s Nail Bar, explains that male nail bars are a good business opportunity in the Philippines.

Another bonus is premier malls are excited about the Pennyworth Men’s Nail Bar concept and it is now being invited into their malls.

While it’s just in its early years in the country, it is already quite popular in other parts of the world such as Los Angeles.
Matta shares that they get customers from different walks of life, ranging from business men, professionals athletes and seniors. Pennyworth’s most popular service is White Gloves. The 60-minute service is a combination of a complete manicure and pedicure and a 30-minute back and head massage.

Another one is The Dark Knight Massage, a 60-minute, signature massage in a recliner, using Swedish strokes for well-being as well as the therapeutic circulation of blood.

Matta adds that guests fondly and enthusiastically welcome the complimentary massage included in the nail bar’s services to destress and relax.

“Having California Nails & Day Spa for the past 23 years, I noticed in the last 10 years, especially after the pandemic, there are more men visiting Calif Nails with their girlfriend or wife. Yet there were men who wanted to get their nail care, but was shy or uncomfortable to be in Calif Nails, surrounded by women.

I also noticed that in California there was an influx of men’s nail bars and they are doing very well. I visited these men’s nail bars in Los Angeles and decided to put up the first men’s nail bar in the Philippines,” shares Matta.
